What do I need?
An iPhone with iOS 17 or later, or a Mac with macOS 14 or later. There’s no Android or web version.
Do I need headphones?
Yes, for the best results. AirPods and other Bluetooth headphones are fine: Loopie keeps the built-in mic as the input, so they stay in high quality. On speakers, the loop leaks into the next take, and the app warns you.
My layers are landing late
Loopie measures the delay automatically, Bluetooth included. If new layers still land late, open Settings (the cog) and tap Sync. Drag the nudge slider left, or tap Measure by clapping and clap along to eight clicks.
How long can a loop be, and how many layers?
A loop can be 1 to 60 seconds. You can add up to 12 layers.
I messed up a take
Tap Retake to throw the current take away and start it again from the top of the loop.
To remove a layer you’ve already recorded: on iPhone, hold the tile, then tap Remove. On the Mac, hold the tile or hover over it and click ···, then Remove, or press ⌘Z to remove the last layer. You can remove layers while the loop is playing, but not during a take.
To delete every layer, tap the bin button, top right. It asks first.
Are there keyboard shortcuts on the Mac?
Space records, R retakes, P pauses, ⌘S saves, ⌘N starts over and ⌘1, ⌘2 and ⌘3 pick the shape. ⌘/ opens How Loopie works.
Where do my videos go?
On iPhone, straight to Photos. On Mac, to a file, and to Photos too if you like.
Can I come back to a loop later?
No. There are no projects to reopen. A loop lasts until you save it or start over, so save it when you’re happy.
How do I remove the watermark?
Free videos carry a small Loopie mark in the corner. Plus, a one-off purchase in the app, removes it and adds Build-up videos. One purchase covers iPhone and Mac, and works with Family Sharing.
Does Loopie upload my videos?
No. Nothing leaves your device unless you share it yourself. See Privacy.
